The real valuable

Let this be a sharing session before i go jogging later. Haha..

Even before the times of the 3 Kingdoms, it was at the downfall of the Han dynasty. If i remember correctly, its ard AD200. Then Liu Bei wanted to carve out a territory of his own and fight the rebels Wei and Wu. Many advised him that the priority would be to get a wise advisor who could give him the best strategies to get the most out of every situation.

Then the person well known in the China then was none other the Zhuge Liang, nicknamed 卧龙 (meaning lying dragon). He was not only well versed in astrology, geography, medicine but also well learnt in other aspects like the right way of governance.

Liu Bei was determined to recruit him under his wings. He knew such an advisor would certainly allow his future kingdom to flourish and put up a fight against the rebels. However, he thought, " getting this great man of this calibre would be real difficult"

Would monetary gains appeal very much to a well learnt man like Zhuge Liang? He had good character and he was not without pursuit from leaders who wanted to recruit him.

However, the then Liu Bei was poor and without a decent force to fight the rebels. Without monetary attractions, he went in an attempt to talk Liang into joining him.

He visited the first time. Liang was not in.

He visited the second time, Liang was not available.

He visited the third time, Liang was sleeping. Liu Bei waited patiently in the humble shed of Zhuge Liang for his awakening.

Spare the details, Liang agreed to join Liu Bei. Very soon, he scored a victory at the Red Cliff and managed to help Liu finally carve a territory of his own.

A great man of superb qualities, yet not demanding any form of material gain upon recruitment. People said Liang won the land for Liu, i say Liu's sincerity won Liang over..

=)
