The prelude

Via mms @ ica

While waiting for my collection, i guess i should make good use of my time and start the story of 39sce's first ever title since establishment.

The year i won it for them was in 2005.

The year before which was 2004, the team was even stronger than 2005. With Casey who was our key and safsa player. We could definitely aim to play in the finals in the inter unit games. I was a newbie in army and my unit.

i remember in 2004 when the unit Regimental Sergeant Major (equivalent to the discipline master in sch) started the selection.

RSM: boy where are u from? What do u play?
Me: temasek jc singles player
RSM: how good are u?
Me: (why would a person pose a question like this? Wth.) i played 5 games for my sch and won all.

The rest of the guys opened their eyes damn big when i mentioned tjc. i almost wanted to tell them i was not ian. Lol.

Anyway, i had not played for months and though having some decent fitness, my match sharpness was simply not in place to play the tournament.

As a result of 35sce not sending their best players in the quarters which led to their defeat, we were made to face them in the semis. They were the strongest opponent in the whole tournament. Having 3 good singles who could take me down.

In the end, i faced their no 2 lh and this was the decider. Without match fitness and good feel of the game. I lost the game in 3 sets to lh which lasted 40min long. 39sce lost 2-3.

Due to my defeat, my team could only fight for 3rd and we could only get 3rd in the inter unit games. 35sce was the eventual champion in 2004.
